Camp Update Fall 2018
We have just finished another successful summer of camp and looking forward to retreat season. Each season of camp ministry brings its own joys and challenges. We look forward to each season however and the ministry opportunities that come along with them.
It’s so very important to have ministry plans for the future. A life in Christ is a dynamic moving relationship and a ministry needs to be on the move as well. At camp we are nearly always in a phase of planning and implementation. We just completed a summer’s worth of camp sessions and yet we are planning new and different things for camp in 2019. We are planning dates, looking at trends and methods, adjusting schedules and looking for things to take away and things to add.
In the midst of all of the planning and scheming is the big picture stuff! Our master plan for our site development has been completed and now segmented. We are in phase one and are taking specific aim at prioritized projects:
- Planning and locating an updated septic system
- HVAC updates in Oak and Lakeview Lodges
- Securing vital pieces of property
- Staff housing
- Remodeling our water slide
We already have a praise and that is our water slide is completed!
We are still as passionate as ever about seeing people come to Christ! If you’d like to be a part of this growing, moving ministry, there are a number of ways you can help.
Pray
Pray for wisdom, perseverance, direction and blessing as we push forward.
Volunteer
Come and join the movement! We have lots of opportunities to help out. Whether you are skilled in specialty trade areas, are a laborer, or would like to come and help with the day to day, give us a call!
Send/Bring
We have camps and retreats year round and no doubt there are always some campers out there who can’t afford to attend. What a gift it would be to scholarship a group of kids! Load up the car or van and get those kids to camp for a life changing experience!
Give
Master plans and site work always take resources. We need faithful givers to propel Big Sandy into the future. There are many ways to give!

Why We Do Camp
Camp is all about changed lives. Each handprint in the picture above represents a life that was impacted this past summer. Green handprints are from kids that reaffirmed their commitment to Christ. Red handprints are those who made a first time decision. This is a powerful image and reminder of the impact Christ has on young hearts and the value of camp. So, as you pray, as you consider how you can be a part of this effort, look at the handprints and pray for these young believers and for those attending in the years ahead. This is why we do camp!
